MUSIC AND ARTS AT GENEVA

GLORIFYING GOD IN EVERY BEAT

MUSIC MINISTRY

The Music Ministry of Geneva Presbyterian Church is a vital, multifaceted program designed to excite participants, and stir the spiritual needs of the congregation with inspiring music.

There are many opportunities within the Music Ministry for all to be involved. Volunteers are always welcome!

CHANCEL CHOIR

The chancel choir sings at the 10:30am Service on Sunday mornings. Rehearsals are weekly on Tuesday from 7:00 - 8:30 pm (6:45 - 8:45 pm during the Christmas season), with a warm-up and review on Sunday mornings at 9:15 am. During the Christmas season we extend our Tuesday rehearsal to learn more complex, holiday offerings.. The choir is open to all who love to sing, no audition is required. It is helpful if you can read music (but not necessary) and very helpful if you can carry a tune!

THE JOYFUL RINGERS HANDBELL CHOIR

The hand bell choir provides special music on an “as needed” basis, performing during the service at least once a month. We have 4 octaves of hand bells and chimes. Prior experience with hand bells and the ability to read music is not required, but helpful. Carol Calvert leads weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays at 9:30 am in the sanctuary. Carol is a seasoned, gentle, and enthusiastic ringer, who teachers her group to use various handbell techniques, including Echo, Gyro, Malleting, Martellato, Plucking, Shaking, the Singing Bell, a Tower Swing and the most affecting Thumb Damp. They are a marvelous group, with participants from other churches who come for the fun, the inspiration and sheer sport of it!
